Enteric Nervous System (ENS)

The enteric nervous system (ENS) is located in sheaths of tissue lining the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon.

The ENS controls key aspects of guy physiology. It interacts with microbiota and nutrients, and the inner (immune and stromal) microenvironment of the gut. The maturation of intestinal neural networks is influenced by interactions with microbiota and the mucosal immune system.
